Get to know Keep it Kidmin
Kids ministry is hard. Between the meetings and curriculum, finding volunteers and pouring into the ones you have, planning awesome events and pulling off an exciting weekend... what else is there really time for? It's exhausting and incredibly isolating.
Our goal is to change the landscape of kids ministry. Not for kids on the weekend, our mission is to minister to you.
Right now, that looks like sharing encouragement and working to connect kidmin leaders to each other.
We have a lot more up our sleeve but for now, we hope you'll join in on the journey.
No matter how you were called to kids' ministry, we believe what you're doing is the most important work there is. Whether you're young or old, man or woman, bi-vocational or full time, we know God has called you to this.
Jesus calls little children to Himself and tells us to have faith like them. They are precious to Him.
You introduce these precious kids to the name of Jesus and are one of the first to share His love with them. It seems so simple, yet it's vital to their eternity.
The problem is two-fold: more Kidmin leaders are burning out, and there are few ready to carry on what others started.
This has the potential to harm the next generation on a deep level.
Matthew 9:37-38 says, "Then he said to his disciples, 'The harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few; therefore pray earnestly to the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into his harvest.'"
This is true of all work for God's Kingdom, but unfortunately it's become especially true for Kidmin.
It makes our work here even more needed.
It's just common sense. We believe that that healthier you are, the healthier the ministry you lead will be. Sure, it takes knowledge and experience too, but overall, if you're unhealthy, the ministry will be too.
We are filled so that we can overflow, yet so many of us are running on empty.
You know what you do is important, but maybe the way you're doing it just isn't sustainable, and it's running you down.
We're here for you. Really, that's our whole purpose, we exist for you.
Prayer
It starts with God and is all for His glory. So we devote ourselves and our work to Him first.
Community
No one should go it alone.
Grace
Nobody's perfect and everyone deserves a chance to grow. Second chances are second nature here.
Joyful Determination
We believe in changing the status quo, but enjoying ourselves along the way.
I'm a wife, ice cream lover, and loyal advocate for the people I care about. I'm also a Kids Pastor at a large church in Michigan.
When I look at the state of NextGen ministry, I see a great need for the care of Kidmin leaders. Having left a previous role due to burnout, I understand the frustration, heartbreak, and confusion that comes from not having the support needed to thrive in your role.
My heart is to build healthy Kidmin leaders and to help in the healing process of those facing burnout. My passion is for you to live your passion, and to thrive while doing it.
